Catastrophe
COMEDY | 2025 | 3 mins
What happens when you leave your cute cat home alone? In this comedy short, the answer is chaos.
Catastrophe follows a mischievous feline who decides that being left alone by his owner for too long is simply unacceptable. Tired of quiet afternoons and missed attention, the cat begins his own playful revenge, transforming an ordinary home into a playground of harmless but hilarious mischief.
Using natural curiosity and clever animal instincts, the cat sets out to create small but escalating moments of chaos. From knocking objects off shelves to causing unexpected household surprises, the film embraces classic slapstick humour while showcasing the personality and independence of its feline main character.
Blending lighthearted comedy with the charm of everyday pet behaviour, Catastrophe is a short visual comedy that relies on timing, expression, and the unpredictable nature of cats. The story celebrates the amusing reality of leaving a curious cat unsupervised, delivering a fun and family-friendly viewing experience.
Director’s note:
“Making a short film with a cat as the main character was both a challenge and a very fun creative test. Building a narrative through an animal’s expressions and natural behaviour was not easy, but it pushed me to think differently about storytelling.
Working with the cat required patience, observation, and embracing the unpredictability that comes with animal performance. While it was technically challenging, it became a memorable and meaningful experience.
This project stands out as a core memory for me, not just because of the final result, but because of the process of creating it and sharing the experience with others.“
